A Dance for Malentina

from The Slow War of Plantae by Captain Vulpine!

lyrics

I was traveling down the only road I know
Traversing the unknown
Through a dense and troubling fog

Felt a yearning. took a turn and got mixed around
Caught a scent and the flick of a gown
Something's amiss in my little town

Took a path down a spiral wooden grove
But how was I to know
I'd meet my end, my betrothed?

She said "Hey, won't you hang up your rainy ways?
I'll be with you all your days"
Then she kissed me and we parted ways

Soon after in the ground a rumbling
My walls came crumbling
And I started tumbling

She was only there for a couple of hours
She stomped on all my flowers
She said "Don't worry love, they're gonna regrow"
I said "You'd better come over here, I've got something to show you"

I started peeling of my skin, so I could show her what's within
I'm not a monster, it's the thing beneath my skin
Started pulling out my brains so she'd know what I was saying;
It's not me, it's this mushy grey thing!

She told me that that was no excuse
She handed me the noose
Said the time was wrong, but she knew that all along
She said "Hey, won't you hang up your rainy ways? I'll be with you all your days"

Then she reared her head and bared her fangs.
